Commencement Speech to the Stratton Mountain School

This last weekend I was honored to act as the keynote speaker to the 2012 graduating class at Stratton Mountain School, an elite ski academy in Vermont from which I graduated in 1998.  As a now professional athlete, I am constantly surrounded by over-achievers and people who are striving to move to the next level, so finding sources of inspiration are not hard.  Yet seeing such an accomplished group of graduating high school students was an incredible motivator for me – it is simply amazing what some of these kids have achieved.  A few are already competing at the world cup level.  Many are taking post graduate years after having been invited to train at various elite/ Olympic training centers.  And to top it all off every one of them has proven themselves to be top students.  In a class of 23, 4 will be attending Dartmouth College, and 3 attending Middlebury, among others.

A big thank you to Chris Kaltsas (SMS Headmaster), Gordy Megroz (Head of Alumni Relations) and Carson Thurber (Admissions) for everything they did for me last weekend.

Though a bit repetitive to my bio, attached is the speech I delivered on Saturday.  Enjoy!
